Garcinia cambogia is a fruit found in Asia, and which has been used in traditional Indian medicine for centuries. It is rapidly gaining popularity in Western medicine as a fat loss supplement, largely thanks to the exposure given to it by Dr. Oz. Before taking garcinia cambogia though, it's important to understand what it is and how it works to help users lose weight.
How Garcinia Cambogia Works
The rind of the garcinia combogia fruit is what's been used in so many medicines, and it's where the extract used in modern day diet supplements comes from. This extract contains a chemical called Hydroxy Citric Acid, commonly referred to simply as HCA. When HCA is ingested it's absorbed quickly into the body where it has several different effects. The first effect is that it increases the available amount of the hormone serotonin, which reduces the appetite. This leads to users feeling full after eating less food because there is simply less of a biological drive to eat. In addition to increasing serotonin though, HCA also helps block the creation of new fat cells. Because a user is eating less, and unable to produce as much fat, that means the body has to start burning the fat it already has stored to maintain its energy. The end result? Those who use garcinia cambogia properly end up eating less and burning more fat without a great deal of stress or sacrifice.
Intensifying the Effects
Garcinia cambogia is a fairly simple, straightforward supplement. However, while effective when used on its own, it becomes more so when other changes are made to someone's routine. For instance, if someone alters his or her diet to cut out processed or fatty foods, then the carginia cambogia is less likely to get overwhelmed by the person's diet. The individual is also likely to see healthy changes in mood, skin, hair, etc. If an individual adds a healthy exercise regimen to the diet changes and the use of garcinia cambogia, the increases in metabolism and fat burning will result in even more dramatic alterations to that person's waistline.
While it's possible to simply use a garcinia cambogia extract on its own to aid in fat loss, it's important to always contact one's doctor before starting. Those with bowel issues, problems maintaining serotonin levels, and other issues may find their experiences significantly different from those in the general population. As always, it's important to understand how a supplement works before choosing to use it.
